Day Five: Unlimited Resources

Ephesians 3:14-21 (NLT)

14 When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, 15 the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. 16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

Reflection:

It was a close youth basketball game, and as the audience watched intently, one of the boys turned to his father during a timeout.  He was not having a particularly good game and in frustration expressed, “Dad, I can’t do this,” but the father replied, “You can’t if you think you can’t.”  The father then encouraged him to think differently and to fight on.

As humans, we have a tendency to place limits on ourselves.  But here, the Apostle Paul speaks of God’s unlimited resources.  Because of the incredible love of Christ and the Holy Spirit living within us, we are now fully empowered to live a life with no limits.  In the book of Acts, the Christians at Pentecost and the early church both lived with this incredible empowerment.  And now, we too can live with this same power.  God’s power can accomplish far more than what we ordinarily think or imagine.  We don’t have to depend on our limited abilities but on God’s unlimited resources!

Responding to the message:
We have a glorious and unlimited supply to draw from each and every day – empowering us from within and making us complete. Let’s not limit ourselves with our own thinking and calculations.  Today, spend time in prayer asking the Lord to fill you with His Spirit, to deepen you in His love, and to change your limiting thinking patterns- believing that you can do all things by the power of Christ in us!
