Day Five – Striving to Seek

Friday, November 22nd, 2013

Philippians 1:27 (NLT)

Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News.

Reflection

Being a citizen of a country provides benefits, but citizenship also entails responsibilities.  For example, citizens of the United States are required to pay taxes and jury duty service.  In the same way, we have a responsibility as citizens of heaven.  This is that we should conduct ourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ in this world.  Just as we have experienced, the worth of knowing Christ, the responsibility of being a citizen of heaven becomes a joy and a privilege.  We must continue to strive together to seek the Good News about Christ be embodied in ourselves, our communities, our families, our friends, our co-workers regardless of whether in open or closed doors, regardless of success or failure.

Responding to the Word

Let’s spend some time in prayer thanking the Lord for giving us the privilege of being citizens of heaven.  Also, let’s spend some time praying those we are reaching out to so that Christ would be embodied in them so that they may too may experience the worth of knowing Christ.
