Day Five – God is Made Known Through the Spirit

Friday, May 16th, 2014

John 1:18 (NIV) - No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.”

1 John 4:11-16 (NIV) - Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.”

Reflection:

We don’t know who God really is unless we have seen Jesus.  But how do we see Jesus?  We see Jesus, and therefore know God, through faith and the Holy Spirit whom He has sent and given to be with us.  Jesus is revealed to others through the lives of His people. As we love one another, God’s presence living in us makes Him and His love known to us and testifies to others that He is the Savior of the world.

Let’s pray that we would be empowered by the Holy Spirit today.  May His Spirit shine through as we testify that Jesus is the Savior, so that others may be filled by His Spirit, see Jesus, and be saved.  Let’s pray over our broken and lost world - friends, campuses, neighborhoods - that the Sprit that is at work in us, His church, would reveal this love of God tangibly and powerfully to them.
