Day Five: Why We Fight – Glory to God in the highest!

Friday, December 18th, 2015

Luke 2:13-14 - “Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

Surely Jesus was being borne in a humble setting, but that’s not where he remains, for all of heaven is on its feet, in worship and praising God! By declaring “Glory to God in the highest”, the angels are showing that of all the workings and happenings in the world throughout history, the birth of Jesus and what He has come to do is the greatest of all time!  There has been nothing like it so far!  There is no victory or accomplishment that Augustus has done that comes close to Jesus’ birth!  In our lives, there is nothing-no victories, no accomplishments, no degrees, no relationships, no pay raises-whatever we find to be worthy of celebration-nothing compares to this truth!  Today, as we celebrate that the Savior has come, this is the greatest glory in the highest! This is what we are called to celebrate!  As we celebrate and welcome Christ into our lives, may the favor of Christ rest upon us!

Today, as we worship and draw near the Lord, may the answer be yes!  Yes, Lord, we believe and we receive your favor-your gospel!
