Day Five: Our Only Boast

Friday, March 25th, 2016

Galatians 6:14 - “May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.”

NCAA March Madness is in full bloom and it has been fun and exciting to watch.  It is always interesting to hear the interviews of the coaches and players after they have won a game.  There is some kind of boasting that is going on - whether it is about the players’ spectacular skills or a coach’s leadership.  But, we know that their boasting is only temporary, until the team loses a game or the tournament is over.  The kind of boasting that we have in the cross of Christ is not a temporary thing.  It is sure and eternal.  It is the boasting of all time and our only boast!

As today is Good Friday and as we look forward to our worship gathering this evening, let’s continue to reflect and remember that our boast is only in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.  We have been brought from death to life, from condemnation to forgiveness and from the old to the new.

Let’s continue to prepare our hearts prayerfully as we close worshipping to this song, “The Wonderful Cross” by Chris Tomlin:
