Galatians 5:13 (NIV)
You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
There is a lot of pain in the world - a lot of unnecessary pain. There is pain from being wronged, and pain from this fallen reality. The pain that we experience may make us empty inside. We may use rules and seeming order or we may turn to other things to fill that emptiness. However, in Christ we are free from this worldly reality becoming our identity and from pain controlling out lives, instead we are free to love, to lay our lives down for others – this is the cross-formed life. Christ fills our emptiness, and Christ fills us to overflowing, so that we are free to love. Just as Christ died for us, we can lay down our lives for others, pain that is worth it. This is the cross-formed life and it is life-giving.
Responding to the Transmission
Let’s come before God and ask Him to fill the areas where there is pain and emptiness. As we are filled, let’s pray that our love is motivated by the joy of sharing our fullness in Christ. It is hard to go through pain, so let’s pray that God would help us to lay down our lives and enable us to serve one another humbly in love. Let’s pray that we would offer the life-giving message of Jesus to others, seeking real gain for God’s glory here among us.
