Ephesians 6:1-4 – Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” – which is the first commandment with a promise – “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
We can also broaden the application to be beyond biological families and household relationships. Think about this passage in terms of your relationships with others within the church or your small group or roommates. How might these commands apply for you in that context?
Enlarge the place of your tent,
stretch your tent curtains wide,
do not hold back;
lengthen your cords,
strengthen your stakes.
For you will spread out to the right and to the left;
your descendants will dispossess nations
and settle in their desolate cities.
Prayer: Lord, we ask for Agape Churches for Spirit-empowered mutual submission to one another in the church. Help each one of us grow in a servant leader lifestyle that is radically transformed to care about others more than ourselves, willing to be trained and instructed, willing also to train and instruct others in the way of the Lord! May there be enlarging, enlarging and enlarging of the place of Your tent among us!
Let’s end this week worshipping to the song “More To Come” (click here) by Passion.
