Day One: The goodness that follows us

Psalm 23:6 (NIV)
Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Our lives as God’s people are marked by our knowing and experiencing his goodness and love following, chasing, and capturing our hearts. This means that the Lord does not leave us where we are. Instead, he comes after us into the very places where once we’ve only known hurt, disappointment, anger, and bitterness. It is in those very areas the Lord causes his goodness and love to be known, and when that occurs, we are never the same again.

This is the blessing that we’ve been given by the Lord, that as we continue to grow as his people, we will see the goodness of God invading, replacing, redeeming every area of our lives. This is how incredible the love of God is, that those who were once away from God—who did not belong nor know God, are now those who live knowing and tasting the goodness of God.

Today, let’s respond in thanksgiving for the Lord’s goodness that follows us all the days of our lives.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, we thank you that we will live in your goodness all the days of our lives. May the experience of your goodness bring healing, cleansing, and restoration in the broken areas of our lives. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
