Day One: I AM the LORD Who Heals You

Exodus 15:26 (NIV)
He said, “If you listen carefully to the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you.”

Just prior to Exodus 15 is God’s miraculous rescue of his people from Egypt. God’s people have seen firsthand his saving power, but in many respects they are still at this moment a generation who don’t know who the Lord is. So it is significant that of all the ways the Lord could have introduced himself to his people, he saw it fit that he would introduce himself first as “I AM the LORD who heals you.” Through his name, God reveals to us the full meaning and extent of his salvation. Rescue from Egypt was just the beginning, “I AM the LORD who heals you” will now be the one who rescues us again and again, more and more, from the scars, hurts, and traumas left over from our former captivity.

Let’s consider the power, love, and cost Jesus exerted to rescue his people on the cross. With the same power and love, the Lord eagerly invites us today to be rescued and healed in new and deeper ways emotionally, mentally, and physically. Let’s come to Jesus our healer.
