Exodus 15:26 (NIV)
He said, “If you listen carefully to the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you.”
Let’s take a close look at how the Lord introduces himself in Exodus as our healer. Notice how “commands and keep all his decrees” are bookended by LORD/I AM. It begins l with “I AM the LORD your God” and it ends with “I AM the LORD who heals you. This emphasis on “I AM” teaches us that obeying God’s commands and experiencing his healing are ultimately wrapped up in knowing who he is. Our healing is about knowing God and relationship with God. It’s about knowing Jesus and relationship with Jesus.
Consider all the activities we will do today. If it leads to knowing Jesus more, if it leads to closer relationship with him, if it leads us closer to his body (the church), if it leads us to more opportunities to grow in worship and prayer to him, then keep going! We will find God’s healing there!
Prayer: “Lord, we want to know you more! May we pursue you today in all of our daily activities. Draw us close to you so we can live in greater obedience and experience deeper healing. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
