Day 5: Healing Prayer

Psalm 37:4-5 (NIV)
4 Take delight in the LORD,
    and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD;
    trust in him and he will do this:

Matthew 6:9b-10 (NIV)
“‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
    on earth as it is in heaven.

“God, who sustains the universe by his power, regularly performs works without human vessels…but he also often chooses to perform them through his servants…miracles come in response to God’s command …or the prayer of someone walking close to him…Those whose desires are granted are those who delight in God and desire his will supremely.” [Craig Keener. Gift and the Giver: The Holy Spirit for Today.]

As we delight in the Lord, doing his will above all things will be our desire. Our prayers for healing will align with God’s will as we pray for his kingdom to come and for his will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. We can be his servants who ask for God’s kingdom to come down with healing power for our generation.

Prayer: Our Father in heaven, holy is your name. Let your kingdom come. Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Align our desires and our prayers according to your will for our own healing and for the healing of others. Heal our communities, campuses, friends, and families. May you receive all the glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.
