Day Three: Hold to my teaching

John 8:31b-32 NIV
…Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Today, let’s hold to Jesus’ teaching and remain in his truth. Let’s declare the following “I Am” statements over our lives:

Who am I?
1) I am a child of God; I can call him my Father (Rom 8:14,15; Gal 3:26, 4:6).
2) I am a temple – a dwelling place – for God. His Spirit and his life live in me (1 Cor 3:16; 6:19).
3) I am chosen of God, holy and dearly loved (Col 3:12, 1 Thess 1:4).
4) I am a member of a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God (1 Pet 2:9-10).

Since I am in Christ, by the grace of God…
1) The sinful person I used to be died with Christ, and sin no longer rules my life (Rom 6:1-6).
2) I have been given the mind of Christ. He gives me his wisdom to make right choices (1 Cor 2:16).
3) I have been given the Spirit of power, love and self-control (2 Tim 1:7).
4) I may approach God with boldness, freedom and confidence (Eph 3:12).

Prayer: Lord, we praise you for revealing your truth to us. Help us live as Christ’s followers in all that we have to do today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
