Day 4: Unveiled

John 11:4, 32-35, 38-39 (NIV)
4 Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.”
…
32 When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.”
33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. 34 “Where have you laid him?” he asked.
“Come and see, Lord,” they replied.
35 Jesus wept.
38 Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance. 39 “Take away the stone,” he said.

“The main storyline is about the glory of God and the Son of God…When Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead it wasn’t just a miracle to be marveled at. The compassionate and angry heart of Jesus was unveiled, giving a glimpse of the coming glory of Christ which was revealed in his death on the cross, where he destroyed the power of sin and death, winning our salvation. And today, at the right hand of God, Jesus is still deeply moved but he is no longer subject to death. He has conquered sin. He has conquered death and hell.” (Carol’s message)

Prayer: Father, we worship you and glorify you for you have done great things for us! As we confess to you where we are in our sorrow, sin, and death, let us also hear you leading us to “take away the stone,” so that your glory may be seen even there. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Let’s worship and glorify Jesus as we sing “He Has Done Great Things” by Bethel (click here).
